How To Find People Using Google

How To Do a Google Search

Use your knowledge of how to find people using Google for most of your people searches, since it’s one of the two or three best ways on the Internet to find old friends, acquaintances and new contacts. There are situations where Yahoo Search is better, but Googling a person is done more times each day than any other kind of online searching.

Googling People

To begin with, a good place to start finding people with Google is at their homepage. Searching is simply a matter of placing a person’s name in a quotation marks and clicking “Google It”. For example, typing “Jane Smith” brings back all the examples of Jane Smith on the net. Remember, the quotation marks means these are examples were “Jane” follows “Smith”, so it narrows down the search somewhat.

Narrowing Your Google Searches

When you want to find someone and you’re pretty sure what town, part of the country or part of the world they live in, try Googles like “Jane Smith New York City” or “Jane Smith Manhattan” or “Jane Smith Essex County”. This will further narrow your search, so if your friend lives in New York, you aren’t finding all the Jane Smiths who live in Australia. Obviously, the more specific you can be, the more accurate your search and the less time you’ll have to click through results.

Another way to decrease the time spent finding people is to add specific details about them, such as professions, notable hobbies or other background details. For instance, if Jane Smith is a dental hygienist, then type in “Jane Smith dental hygienist” and see if that narrows your search down. The more details you enter, the better. So if you know that Jane Smith married Jack Jones and you’re pretty sure they live in Virginia, then type in “Jane Smith Virginia” along with “Jack Jones” and see if that doesn’t take you to your friend’s online information.
