How To Find People on Ask.Com

How To Find Someone Using Ask Jeeves

According to one 2007, Ask.com is the 57th most visited website on the Internet. “Ask Dotcom” offers site links, images, blogs, news, maps, videos and directions for tens of millions of users per day. Ask allows you to do a local search, as well as shop. Pretty much anything that most search engines can do, Ask lets you do.

Ask .com has been a major player online since 1996, when the UK search engine was known as “Ask Jeeves”. Since Ask or “Jeeves” has websites dedicated to English, France, German, Spanish and Italian, it sends people to a huge network of static sites and blogs and is even traded on the NASDAQ. Ask .Com even sponsors a NASCAR team.

For our purposes, Ask is designed to be more intuitive and efficient than most search engines, so your searches tend to be smart. Ask Jeeves has long prided themselves on being able to give you the best answers to any question you can ask it. While I’m sure people would argue that claim, Ask’s strive for perfection has allowed the site to attain excellence.

1. Searching With Ask Jeeves

The Ask search engine does not require you to register, though like many of the sites we’ve discussed on here, Ask Jeeves gives you certain abilities if you do register. You can put the name you desire into the Ask Search Engine and click on it. This might give you what you’re looking for.

2. Ask Advanced Search

If not, you can use the Ask Jeeves Advanced Search function, which also doesn’t require registration. When you get to the advanced search, you’ll notice boxes that say “all of the words”, “the exact phrase”, “at least one of the words” and “none of the words”. Place the name of your friend in the “exact phrase” box. Also put any address information (state, city, zip code, mailing address) into either “all of the words” or “at least one of the words” and click.

When using the advanced search option, you can also specify the location of the words on a page and the domain name you’re searching, as well as language, country and the day a page was modified. You won’t need most of those options when performing a people search.

3. Ask Dotcom Site Features

For other features, go to the Ask Jeeves Site Features and search for better options. If you want to find famous people on “Ask”, you’ll find a search button for that about 2/3rds of the way down the page under “Famous People Search”.

4. Ask Search Toolbar

Another resource available is is the “Ask Toolbar”, which makes it easier to search online for the people you want to find. The toolbar is available for Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers. While you can search Ask without the toolbar, this makes it easier. Ask is incompatible with Kaspersky Internet Security, so don’t download it if you use Kaspersky (which is otherwise one of the best security softwares anywhere).

The Search Toolbar lets you search using Jeeves from anywhere online and personalize your searches with saved locations and local news. You can also save images, searches and web pages, so you can access them directly from the toolbar. Finally, you can find maps and business listings and place them on the Ask toolbar, too. The “Zoom Related Search” lets you explore similar topics or “drill down” into specific search items, or review names that might be tied to your search.

If you want to find people on Twitter, you might consider following the Ask Jeeves Twitter page. If you want to find people on Facebook, consider adding the Ask Jeeves Facebook Page. Some kid has the Ask Jeeves Myspace page, which I think is great. Actually, those others might be faked, but they do have that disturbing 3D representation of Jeeves the Butler from the P.G. Wodehouse novels, which is the inspiration for the Ask Jeeves name in the first place.

If Ask Jeeves on Twitter or Facebook says something vulgar, you’ll know it’s a fake. :-)
