How To Find People’s Cell Phone Numbers »
When you haven’t heard from a loved one and you don’t how to find a missing family member, all kinds of thoughts begin to race through your head. You ask yourself if they are alive, healthy and happy. You wonder if they haven’t got in trouble and can’t get in contact with you. Not knowing is the worst part.
Most of the time, your missing son, daughter or cousin is simply being inconsiderate. But it’s nice to know whether that’s the case, so here’s how you go about finding a missing family member.
Start with Your Family
The likeliest people to know where missing family members might be are your fellow family members. Figure out if your loved one is truly missing or simply hasn’t contacted you recently. People can be thoughless and simply stop communicating. They don’t have to be angry or offended to stop communication, and they certainly can be alive and well and just too “busy” to consider contacting you.
If so, you might be able to find contact information for your missing brother, sister or cousin from someone else in your extended family. Start with their known friends in the family, then the various patriarchs or matriarchs or anyone that has a little excess money. Those are the people likeliest to be contacted by a missing family member.
Check with Their Old Friends
Make a list of any of your family member’s friends or acquaintances who might still live in the area. Call or contact these people and ask them if they know where your loved one might be. Let them know that you and the rest of the family are concerned about them and want to know if this person is doing well.
Do an E-Search
Use some of the options on this site to help you find your missing family member. Perform free online searches to obtain the information you’re looking for before you spend a penny to hire help finding a missing family member.
Use Intelius
Intelius.com is a website that collects references to a specific name on directories throughout the Internet and feeds you that information. You’ll be able to see a whole list of people and addresses associated with that name, usually with a city, state and age associated with those names. Sometimes, the searches will yield children information, too.
From here, you can choose to buy a big report on any of the people on the list. You’ll want to narrow your search to one or two people whom you think fit the Intelius profile. It’s usually easy to narrow the field significantly through five minutes of sifting. Intelius will then provide you with a background report, including disparate information ranging from arrest records to address records to other vital records.
Intelius should give you a pretty good idea of where your missing family member is living in the world, who they are living with or lived with and whether they are in trouble with the law, or have been in the past. From there, you can choose to renew your relationship or decide whether knowledge they are still alive is enough. If you choose to contact them, contact information will be at your hand.
Hire a Detective or Private Investigator
If, for some reason, none of the above means of finding your missing family is successful, consider hiring a private detective or cyber-investigator. Either will use some of the techniques used above, but these people have a lot more experience using the tools and are usually trained in all the methods of finding people. P.I.s will search the criminal databases and talk to past friends, eventually tracking down where this person is living.
Hiring a private detective isn’t guaranteed to work and it might cost more than you’re willing to spend, but if for some reason you have no luck finding your missing family, private investigation is an option.
